Capacity Improvements

Capacity improvements were completed in 2023, including:

• Creating a new accessible walkway to the main building, a new main office and a secure vestibule. 
• Transforming large open space rooms into separate classroom spaces
• Repairing and cleaning the HVAC system
• Replacing most of the duct work
• Adding new interior and exterior lighting fixtures and some minor power upgrades
• Building a new IT room and new IT infrastructure
• Improving accessibility of restrooms to ADA standard
• Improvements to modular buildings, including
  • An accessible walkway
  • Restoring the original classroom layout
  • Structural, mechanical and electrical upgrades
  • ADA-compliant restrooms
• Exterior work, including:
  • Parking lot improvements
  • Stormwater planter
  • Trash enclosure.
• Replacement of curb ramps and driveway aprons in the right-of-way surrounding the school
   

Harrison Park was converted from a K-8 to a middle school (6-8 grades), receiving significant upgrades to the facilities. The conversion to middle school is now substantially complete. Some minor finish work may occur.

• New/Renovated classrooms
• New common and extended learning space
• New SPED classroom and area, restroom, shower and de-escalation space
• New band instrument and student lockers installed
• Renovated and newly paved front parking area 
• New HVAC system
• New fire sprinklers
• Secure entryway and vestibule
• Renovated existing gendered restrooms
• New all-user restrooms
• Seismic upgrades
• Technology upgrades
• Renovated staff restrooms
• Renovated offices for administrators and community partners
• New bike shelters
• Upgraded and renovated gym
• New fitness room with new exercise equipment
• LED lighting throughout the building
