Mechanical
$75 million for the repair or replacement of high-priority mechanical systems such as heating, cooling and ventilation was funded by the 2020 bond. Smaller mechanical projects are also eligible for the funding.
Mechanical deficiencies are PPS’ largest facility need, with dozens of schools having major mechanical system components in critical condition.
Controls Improvements
Most schools control their heating and ventilation systems using older pneumatic air systems to regulate temperature. We are replacing those controls with digital controls that allow staff to control heating by-room. Work may also include smaller system repairs, such as fixing broken fans.
Control upgrades will save energy and improve comfort for students and instructors inside the building.
