Grice-Adair Center for Educational Excellence
Named after trailblazing Black educator Michael “Chappie” Grice and Dr. Harriet Adair, the dual-building Center for Educational Excellence at 1. N Fremont will offer a permanent space that is open to all students and, realizing the community’s vision, honors Black students’ histories, elevates their brilliance, and expands students’ access to opportunity.
The Grice-Adair Center for Educational Excellence will coordinate the development of the programming housed on the property in collaboration with district and community partners. Learn more.
PPS Real Estate, Infrastructure and School Enhancement (RISE) will lead the design and construction of the bond-funded renovation, helping bring the vision of the Center to life and creating a space that supports innovation, belonging, and student success.
The “Chappie” Grice Center (east building) will serve as a welcoming “living room” for students and community to gather for cultural programming and collaboration. The Dr. Harriet Adair Center (west building) will serve as a creative studio with spaces for technology, multimedia, storytelling and entrepreneurship.
